✅ 1. Power BI Overview

  • What is Power BI?
    A suite of tools (Desktop, Service, Mobile) for connecting, transforming, modeling, and visualizing data from multiple sources.
    It turns raw data into interactive dashboards and reports for decision-making. 

✅ 2. Connecting & Transforming Data

  • Power Query
    Used for data extraction, cleaning, and transformation (ETL process).
    Key tasks:
    • Merge, append, pivot/unpivot tables
    • Handle missing values
    • Apply data types and filters

✅ 3. Data Modeling

  • Relationships & Schemas
    • Create relationships between tables (Star Schema recommended)
    • Define hierarchies for drill-down analysis
  • Calculated Columns & Measures
    • Use DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for custom calculations like totals, percentages, and time intelligence 

✅ 4. DAX Fundamentals

  • What is DAX?
    A formula language for Power BI to create measures and calculated columns.
  • Common functions:
    • Aggregations (SUM, AVERAGE)
    • Filters (CALCULATE, FILTER)
    • Time intelligence (DATEADD, TOTALYTD) 

✅ 5. Visualization & Reporting

  • Visual Types
    Bar charts, line charts, maps, treemaps, scatter plots, waterfall charts, etc.
  • Best Practices
    • Choose visuals that match the data story
    • Use slicers and filters for interactivity
    • Apply themes and formatting for clarity 

✅ 6. Power BI Service Concepts

  • Workspaces & Apps
    Organize dashboards and reports for sharing.
  • Collaboration & Security
    • Row-Level Security (RLS)
    • Role assignments
  • Publishing & Sharing
    Publish reports to Power BI Service and share with users securely 

✅ 7. Advanced Topics

  • Performance optimization (query folding, aggregations)
  • AI visuals (Q&A, Key Influencers)
  • Governance & compliance (data sensitivity labels, audit logs)
